Pinot Gris is named for its relationship to the many variations of pinot noir and is well known for its fine quality wines in northern Europe. It is an early ripening variety and contrary to its light red grape colour, it makes a white wine of richness and finesse. The Gris (or grey) translates as a colour more akin to golden straw. This wine has been whole bunch pressed directly to seasoned French oak barriques for a natural fermentation of 4 months prior to bottling. The aroma blends candied fruit, crushed nuts, roses and beeswax. These flow onto a rich palate filled with honeysuckle, melon skin and sourdough, cut by natural acidity that refreshes and adds length. This wine will reward with mid-term cellaring.
